Students will continue to learn about the Holy Spirit, our guide. At Baptism we received the gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gifts are strengthened in us at Confirmation to help us live a holy life.

Students will work on various religious activities in the next two week including a gift for their Kindergarten Buddies and the 8th grade students, Class of 2015. There will be no final formal test for Chapter 10. Science & Social Studies Science- The Changing Earth: Unit B Chapter 2 - Rocks and Minerals Students are learning about the three types of rocks. In addition, they will learn how rocks change (rock cycle). Science Lab - Rocks & Minerals **Test - next Wednesday 6/3! Study!**

Social Studies - Chapter 7 - Destination California Gold is found! California becomes the 31st State!
Students will work on activities in the next two weeks. However, there will not be a final formal test.
In addition, students will read Scholastic News every other week to learn about historical and current events. Geography - We will continue to travel around the world. Students will read and complete geography activities on different countries around the world. These activities are a percentage of a student's social studies grade. Currently, students are studying countries in Asia (Thailand), Africa, & Europe. In addition, they are updating the places they visited in their passports.

Students will complete this chapter by working on a test review. There is tutoring on Thursday for math. Therefore, if your child has any questions or needs more practice he or she can attend tutoring or ask me before school or at recess time.

First in Math - Student's goal is to earn 75 sticker points this week! The week begins on Sunday a.m. and ends on Saturday p.m.
**Students will be given a timed test (math facts) 2-3 times a week. Please check your child's progress in the Weekly Folder. Students will need to write the math fact(s) that were incorrect on his or her math fact timed test ten times each and turn in the next day.**
Language Arts
Spelling - Lesson 33; Compound Words **Test - Friday, 5/29 Study!** *Packet - due Friday* Writing - Students will continue to review the 6 + 1 Writing Traits (Ideas, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Voice, Organization, and Presentation). Also, students will free write in their journals. In addition, students will continue to write a 4-5 paragraph narrative on their field trip to Old Town, San Diego.
Reading- Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell; Students will continue to read chapters 16-24, respond to comprehension questions, and write a summary for each chapter.
English/Grammar- Unit 3: Verbs Students have completed this chapter. Therefore, they will work on a test review to prepare for the test. **Test - Tuesday, 6/2 Study!** Handwriting - Lesson 27 due Friday
